Touhou series.

It's a series of Bullet Hell games made by ZUN (Jun'ya Ota). He makes all these games by himself. And these games are HARD. I've played the demo of Embodiment of the Scarlet Devil and have the Full version of Undefined Flying Object, which actually came out just 3 days ago. I can beat the first level on both just fine, but I have yet to make it past the second level on either. It's really hard.

I mean, just look at this:


You need surgeon-like percision to dodge all these (Skip to 1:37, 4:51, and 8:48 to see what I mean). This guy is amazing and even he's dying. And this isn't even the hardest difficulty. Hard and Lunatic are just insane. These games are just massive seizure fests when you look at all the brightly colored bullets on screen at one time. At times, even the bullets shoot bullets! It's insane!

Try it out for youself, if you feel like torrenting. That's the full game. You don't need to be able to speak Japanese to know anything. Just Z to shoot and confirm, X to use bombs and cancel, Ctrl to skip through conversations, and Shift to make yourself slower and show your hitbox (Which is actually a lot smaller than your character) and focus your shots. There's probably a translation patch somewhere, but I don't feel like finding it.

I know. I'm actually glad I'm losing at such an early level cause I'm afraid I'll be raped so badly.

I'm pretty sure ZEN makes them impossible.

They're probably youkai like those in featured in the game. They're humoring us by letting us fire at them.

Still haven't beaten a Touhou game yet. Fuck.
